Ian and Jenny Smith of Cambridge have together totted up nearly 50 years of experience in looking after homes and buildings.

The couple, in their 50s, have been married for an impressive near-20 years and their obvious ability to work together and build on each other’s different strengths make them a wonderful example of the Jim’s Cleaning team.

Ian was born in London and moved to Auckland with his parents and sister at the age of five. He served his new country in the Royal New Zealand Navy and later spent nearly 30 years in the fire protection industry and working as a building inspector. Along the way he raised two children, now adults, and three years ago he became a doting grandfather for the first time.

Jenny has a background in accounts and administration, and spent many years cleaning for the elderly, in the accommodation and hospitality sector and in private homes. When she is not working, cat-lover Jenny loves nothing better than to curl up with a good book or to spend quality time with Ian and her family, including their grandson.

Ian and Jenny moved to the leafy Waikato town of Cambridge about two years ago and are “loving it”.

Both speak about their passion and the commitment to their clients, which they feel is essential in running their own business. And when they started looking for a self-employment opportunity they felt that Jim’s Cleaning was a perfect match for their philosophy and dedication.

“We chose Jim’s because of their commitment to customer service and the fact they have been around for over 20 years,” Ian and Jenny say.

As Jim’s Cleaning Cambridge franchisees, their personal promise to clients is: “To take pride in each job we do and to be professional and honest at all times.”
